March 6, “Meeting for Worship”: Ministry and Counsel will lead us in discernment around what is “Meeting for Worship” at about 1 pm—time tba. M&C is sending out a few readings in preparation for this. The first is a short article entitled “Silence and Speech,”and the link is here:

You may recall that the wording for our guidelines for equal marriage is under review. As a Meeting, we came to unity over a minute I will paste in below. Continuing Meeting of Ministry and Counsel of CYM is concerned that all voices be heard. Their letter is attached. Please reply to them directly if you have something you want to be sure they bring into their process. Meanwhile, here is the minute which was approved by KW/Hamilton Meetings, and then by Peterborough Monthly Meeting: The Meeting affirms the goodness of committed, loving relationships and offers recognition and support to those who share this ideal and desire to enter into permanent relationship based on it. By tradition, the Meeting recognizes committed union in a celebration of Marriage under the Care of the Meeting. The same loving care and consideration should be given in accordance with Friends’ testimonies to all applicants, regardless of gender, gender expression, or orientation.

Tentative Schedule for RM and CYM Meetings

CYM Meetings for Worship for Business in 2022
Saturday 11 June
Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday 9, 11, and 13 August
Saturday 17 September
Representative Meetings in 2022
Saturday 14 May
Saturday 19 November
Saturday 3 December

Our Representative is Anne Trudell, and the rest of us are not invited as far as I remember. But the events noted as ‘CYM’ offer the freedom of the floor to every attender and member, and so you can attend and participate if you wish. There are usually preliminary reading materials, and of course a few protocols to follow, as all of these Meetings for Worship for Business are conducted in a spirit of worship. The minutes reflect the best Light we have at that time. They are read back and, once approved, they become the guidelines for our life as a community together, unless and until further Light opens to us.  All meetings are from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
